RESTORE
COMMUNITIES

The Disaster Recovery Program is dedicated to helping communities rebuild and recover after natural disasters. We provide essential resources, support, and guidance to those affected by disasters, ensuring a safer future for all.

Flooded Residential Area

Flooding Myanmar

Lemyethna (Lay Myat Nar) Township, situated along the Ngawun River in the Ayeyarwady Region of southwestern Myanmar, faces severe seasonal flooding.

Disaster Types

A disaster is a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or society that causes widespread human, material, economic, or environmental losses exceeding the affected community's ability to cope using its own resources.

First Aid Kits

Putting together a 7-day medical kit for a small group, the key is balancing sufficient quantity for routine/minor issues with preparedness for critical emergencies.

Emergency Response

During major flood events, multi-agency response teams deploy across Lemyethna Township to mitigate damage and protect communities

Lay Myat Nar
Flooding

Heavy monsoon rains, combined with riverbank erosion and structural failure of critical water containment systems, routinely inundate urban wards, rural villages, and extensive agricultural lands across the township.

Landslides: Causes, Environmental Impacts, and Social Consequences

Heavy Rainfall

Persistent or intense rainfall saturates soil and rock layers, significantly increasing groundwater pressure and weakening the internal cohesion of slope materials.

Earthquakes

Seismic activity creates ground vibrations and shockwaves that instantly destabilize weak slopes, triggering rapid mass movement of rock and soil

Volcanic Activity

Eruptions, pyroclastic flows, and volcanic tremors alter surrounding terrain.

Human Falses

Unplanned deforestation, hill cutting for road construction, mining, quarrying, and improper drainage engineering severely compromise slope integrity and accelerate landslide risks.
